Our stained glass products are of course delicate by nature. They are handmade using glass, copper foil, solder and patina. Please be aware that the solder contains lead, so no licking :), and wash your hands after excessive handling. They are made for indoor use only. To care for your item, we suggest only wiping it down occasionally with a damp cloth and if the patina or solder gets dull or tarnished after some time, then gently and carefully wash the item in warm (not hot) soapy water, working in line with the direction of the solder, completely dry the item before applying a small amount of wax (we use car wax polish) and gently buff it up - again in line with the direction of the solder. We advise no harsh chemicals. Any questions let us know.
Our wooden products are crafted for indoor use only. They should only require gentle wiping down with a cloth and on occasion you may wish to use furniture polish.
With both our glass and wood items, there are many variables that make us arrive at our sale price. These factors include the cost of the individually selected wood or glass - as this widely varies. In addition, how many processes are involved, the size of the piece, and how complex and long a piece takes to make are factored in.
Crafters rarely obtain minimum wage for the total time it takes to hand make a product, but most crafters will agree thats ok, as we thoroughly enjoy doing it.
For example a light catcher with 10 pieces of glass with simple cuts, easy processes and easily, cheaply available glass - maybe bigger then another item but cheaper. The similar looking but smaller item may have 25 pieces of rarer glass, use more copper and solder and take a lot longer complete, so although smaller, will incur additional costs to the bigger item.
Originally designed one off pieces and commissions will of course likely have a premium attached to them for their exclusivity too.
Any questions on our pricing, please reach out.
Some of our products are not stock items and are made on order. When you add such a product to your basket this will be indicated as a 'back ordered' product. In most cases the lead in time for a back ordered products is approximately 1 week before dispatch. When we receive a back order we will reach out to you to confirm make time, so you know when to expect it to arrive.
If it is a stock item, it will be dispatched within a couple of days and take 3-5 days to arrive.
When we make to order, there maybe some variation in the available glass or wood materials available at the time of the make - especially as we operate on small hobby business basis and therefore do not hold vast stocks of any particular wood or glass at any one time, and as all our products are completely hand made there is always going to be slight variation from one item to another. This of course is one of the lovely things about buying hand made crafted products. We will always make each individual piece to our normal high quality standard and specification.
Any questions on 'in stock or back ordering' items, please reach out.
We currently only dispatch to the UK and Ireland.
We generally use Royal Mail, second class parcel for smaller items and a variety of courier's for larger items.
In stock items are dispatched within 2 days and take on average 3-5 days to arrive.
Back order items are usually made and dispatched within 7 days and take on average 3-5 days to arrive. We will notify you of expected make time on order.
As we are a small family business, on occasion dispatch times maybe longer due to holidays. If this is the case we will let you know on order, and will display office closure times on our 'home' page.
